Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail

Located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake, this is the most famous of the hiking trails in Austin. There are ten miles of green space to walk, run, or bike around right in the heart of town.

This Cedar Park beauty has 6.75 miles of trails for hiking with beautiful landscaping and gorgeous views. Six parks along the trail have splash pads, swimming areas, fishing docks, canoeing and kayaking. There’s also disc golf, picnic and pavillion areas, restrooms, climbing rocks and more.


Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park

This 293-acre park is in Northeast Austin off Lamar near Parmer Lane.  It has 15 miles of hiking trails, softball fields, a pool, and a playground. Plus there’s an off-leash dog area, basketball courts, volleyball courts, barbecuing areas, and picnic areas.  


The Onion Creek Greenbelt


There are lots of trail options in South Austin as well. Onion Creek has some of the best hiking trails in Austin in a 555 acre park. It’s located along the banks of Onion Creek just south of William Cannon and east of IH-35.  Amenities include soccer fields, an off-leash dog area, a playground, and gorgeous shaded hiking trails.


Mary Moore Searight Park


Also located in South Austin, this park has more than 300 acres off Slaughter Lane just 2 miles from Southpark Meadows.  In addition to 6 miles of hiking trails in Austin, there are horseback riding trails! Other amenities include disc golf, a playground, basketball courts, a fishing pier, picnic shelter, soccer field, and tennis courts.
